The 2023 scholarship application is open. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to fill out the Ashe Arts & STEM Academy 2023 scholarship application provided you meet the following requirements:

  • Must be BIPOC American.
    • Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino American (non-Caucasian), Native American/Indigenous Peoples, Asian-American, Pacific Islander
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident, or DACA Recipient
  • Be a current high school senior at the time of your application. (college students are not eligible to apply)
  • Must achieve at least a 2.0 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school
    • 2.0 on a 4-point scale
    • 77 on a 100-point scale
  • Must exhibit exceptional leadership potential.
  • Must participate in community service activities.
  • Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend college
    • You must have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) 9,999 or lower**
      You do not need to be Pell Grant eligible to qualify
  • Graduate from high school or equivalent program, or earn a GED in the 2022-2023 school year
  • Be a first-time freshman when entering college for the 2023-2024 school year
    • Students obtaining dual enrollment credits in high school are still eligible to apply
  • Plan to engage in a qualified Arts or STEM program at the following types of institutions:
    • 4 year degree program at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
    • 2 year degree program at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
    • A certification program at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
    • Other post-secondary education leading to additional training for future job prospects (apprenticeships, etc)
      The criteria of qualification for the consideration of these programs is to be determined at the Ashe Academy’s discretion.

Your 2023 scholarship application is reviewed and scored. Selection is based on:

  • Financial need 
  • Academic merit
  • Short answers
  • Recommendation

Application materials must be submitted with your 2023 scholarship application. FAFSA/SAR and school transcripts should not be sent under separate cover.

**If you are not eligible for federal financial aid due to your citizenship status (DACA recipient), you are required to complete the College Funding Estimator (CFE) instead of the FAFSA.

    Being "first-generation" means that you are the first person in your immediate family to pursue any kind of post secondary education. In other words, neither of your parents has a college degree or completed a professional/vocational certification or apprenticeship. If an older sibling or family member attended college, completed a professional/vocational certification, apprenticeship you are still considered a first-generation student


    If you are in a two parent/guardian home, check off all that apply to both parents/guardians in the home. If you are living in a foster or group home, select "N/A"


    If your studies will not focus on Arts or STEM stop here, you are not eligible for our scholarship program.



    Personal Statement

    The Personal Statement consists of:

    1. One question (up to 250 words)
    2. An informal Bio - see format explanation (up to 350 words) and
    3. A Personal Essay (up to 500 words)

    NOTE: You can:

    1. Type your personal statement directly into the boxes below; or
    2. Cut and paste your personal statement from Microsoft Word into the boxes below.

    Please use good grammar and spell-check in your personal statement!

    This is the only method to submit your personal statement. We will not accept personal statements via U.S. Mail, fax or email.

    Please note that a personal statement written by anyone other than the applicant will not be considered. The student (applicant) must write the following personal statement him/herself in order for the application to be evaluated.

    Supplemental Materials

    In order to process your application in a timely fashion, you must submit the following supplemental materials electronically using the "upload" feature below.

    Please make sure that the uploaded document is in PDF (.pdf) or text (.txt) format.

    PLEASE NOTE: Your application will not be accepted without your 2020-2021 Student Aid Report (SAR). You must have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) 0 - 9,999. If you have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) greater than 9,999 stop here, you are not eligible for our scholarship program.

    Please provide an official transcript for the school you most recently attended. If you have attended multiple high schools, you only need to submit the transcript for your most recent (or current) school of attendance.

    It is acceptable to break the "official seal" on your transcript envelope in order to scan and upload the document.

I understand that any false or misleading statements on this application may disqualify me. I understand that this is only an application for a scholarship and that the awards are recommended and approved by the The Ashe Arts & STEM Academy Scholarship Committee.

    In the event that I am awarded a scholarship, I authorize the release of personal information, photographs, audio and/or video recordings for publicity purposes. Further, I understand that The Ashe Arts & STEM Academy may be required to report information about my Scholarship to the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, as a scholarship recipient, I understand that I become an alumni of The Ashe Arts & STEM Academy Scholarship Program and will participate to the best of my ability in appreciation of the generosity of the community.

    Incomplete applications or applications that do not meet eligibility criteria will not be considered for this scholarship.

    Your application will not be considered for a 2023-2024 The Ashe Arts & STEM Academy Scholarship unless you comply with Items #1 and #2 stated above. There will be no exceptions!

    In order to be considered for the Ashe Arts & STEM Academy Scholarship program, the 2023 scholarship application deadline is February 1 before 5 pm PST of my senior year in high school . (NO EXCEPTIONS) Incomplete applications will not be considered. Award decisions are emailed to all completed applicants by May 15, 2023.
